UHBVN achieves new record of power supply

Chandigarh, Aug 4 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam has achieved a new record of maximum power supply in its command area during April to July during the current financial year.

UHBVN Managing Director A K singh said the Nigam had supplied 87.34 crore, 109.70 crore, 132.05 crore and 149.81 crore units of electricity during the month of April, May, June and July this year compared to 81.58 crore, 104.12 crore, 120.42 crore and 134.84 crore units during the corresponding months of the last year.

He said it was targeted to supply about 10 per cent extra power to consumers during summer and paddy season this year as compared to last year.

The UHBVN area comprises Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Kurukshetra, Kaithal, Panipat, Karnal, Sonepat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Jind districts ''A major part of this area was known for supplying maximum rice to the country's kitty. The area is also having maximum power run tubewell density and needed electricity for farm produce. The Nigam has been giving top priority to ensure adequate power supply in view of these facts,'' the spokesman said.
