Security up in TN to prevent naxal intrusion: DGP
Chennai, Aug 4 (UNI) Tamil Nadu Director General of Police D Mukherjee today said police were making all out efforts to prevent the intrusion of naxalites into the state, even as a high alert was sounded throughout the state.
Talking to newspersons here Mr Mukherjee said searching operations were on to nab Naxalites who went hiding.
With the pronouncement of the quantum of sentence for the Coimbatore blast convicts scheduled for August six, the police have tightened security measures in and around Coimbatore. Security was also beefed up all over the state especially in sensitive areas.
About the recent seizure of rocket launchers netted by fishermen in Kanyakumari district, he said the matter was referred to forensic laboratory for tests. ''Only after receiving the report, we would have additional information,'' he added.
