SC to hear on Aug 6 petition against Guj suspended DSP

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court will hear on August 6 the petition of the Gujarat government seeking cancellation of bail granted to state police DSP Narendra Kumar Amin, who was suspended for his alleged involvment in Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

A bench comprising Justices Tarun Chatterjee and P K Balasubramanyan will also hear the main petition filled by Rubabuddin Sheikh seeking a CBI inquiry into the alleged killling of his brother Sohrabuddin and his sister-in-law Kausarbi in a fake encounter which took place on November 25,2005.

The State government in its petition, seeking cancellation of bail granted to Amin, has contended that the costodial interrogaton of the accused was required as he was present on the spot when the body of Kausarbi was disposed of on November 28,2005 and Amin is likely to hamper the investigation of the case if he remains out of jail.

The Gujarat police have already completed the investigation and filed a challan in the court against over half a dozen accused, including three senior IPS officers who include DG Vanzara, then DIG, Special Task Force(STF).

The court had earlier refused to hand over the investigation to the CBI as it was satisfied with the investigation carried out by the Gujarat police.

The State government is preparing a supplementary chargesheet against Amin.
