Sarath Chandra Marate bags Basheer Puraskaram

Kozhikode, Aug 4 (UNI) Well-known Hindustani Vocalist Sharath Chandra Marate has been chosen for 13th Basheer Puraskaram instituted by Doha-based ''Pravasi Trust''.

The award carrying a cash of Rs 35,000, citation and statuette, would be presented to the ailing maestro at a function here on August 7, Trustee Mr Tony Aalppat said in a release.

Former Kerala Chief Minister E M S Namboodiripad, actress Nilambur Aysha, writers Dr M Leelavati and Kadammanitta Ramakrishnan, were among recipients of the award earlier, the release added.
