Rs 25 cr earmarked for 'Rajiv Gandhi Parivar Bima Yojna'

Chandigarh, Aug 4 (UNI) The Haryana government has made a provision of Rs 25 crore for 'Rajiv Gandhi Parivar Bima Yojna' during the current financial year.

An official spokesman said under the scheme each person of Haryana domicile in the age group of 18 to 60 years had been insured.

In case of unnatural death or permanent total inability in an accident, a compensation of Rs One lakh was given to the nominee of the insured person or his legal heir, he said.

A compensation of Rs 50,000 was awarded if two limbs or both eyes were lost and if one limb or one eye was lost a compensation of Rs 25,000 was awarded.

Giving details of other conditions of the scheme, he said that the insured person must have ration card or his name must figure in the electoral role to avail the benefit under the scheme. The certificates relating to the age and domicile of the beneficiaries were issued by the Sarpanch or the Municipal Commissioner concerned.

He said that under the scheme, compensation was awarded in case of death or permanent disability due to railway, road accident or air crash or riots, strike, terrorist attack, snake bite, drowning, poisoning, electric shock or due to falling from a building or house, firing, murder, beast attack, stampede, suffocation, strike of thunderbolt, sun stroke, snow fall, burn wounds or due to occupational hazards such as thrashers and industrial machines.
