Robber gangs busted, 16 held
Lucknow, Aug 4 (UNI) The Government Railway Police (GRP) busted three robber gangs and arrested their 16 members in Muzaffarnagar, Gonda and Mahoba districts of Uttar Pradesh in the last 24 hours.
Police today said here six criminals were nabbed near Shamli station in Muzaffarnagar late last night. A large quantity of drugs was recovered from their possession.
The accused, identified as Somendra, Sanjeev, Khurshid, Raju, Sahajuddin and Mukesh, used to rob passengers aboard trains after giving them food laced with drugs.
Besides, eight miscreants were arrested at Gonda railway station and Rs 10,000 cash along with a large quantity of biscuits laced with drugs were seized.
Two others accused of several train loots were held at Mahoba railway station.
Separate cases had been registered.
