Bengal: Old couple murdered at Chatra

Barasat, Aug 4: Police have recovered the bodies of an old couple from Ghospally area under Baduria police station in North 24 Parganas here yesterday.

Police said Sukharanjan Majumdar (75) and his wife Sandhya (62) were found dead in their house at Chatra.

Police suspected that some miscreants had strangulated the couple to death.

They had also collected some bottles of liquor and other eatables from another room of the house.

Sources said the couple, originally belonging to Chhattisgarh, had been living here for past one decade and were involved in the construction of a nursing home at south Chatra.

Meanwhile, police was trying to ascertain the motive behind the murder and have ruled the possibility of involvement of some criminals from Habra and Machlandapur areas.

However, no one had been arrested so far.
