NDMC holds workshop on account reforms

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) today organised a workshop on Reforming the Accounts.

Inaugurating the workshop, Dr AK Walia, Minister of Urban Development, expressed hope that the reforms would match the expectations set. The analysis should help the common man, he said.

Parimal Rai, chairman of NDMC, tuned the final switch over accrual based accounting as a special event.

Stating that "good accounting is synonymous to good governance,'' he reiterated that reforms would follow many similar exercises. He hoped that the pace of reforms would reach departments like power, subcity plans.

The workshop was held in two sessions and was attended by MLA Tajdar Babbar, Mukesh Bhatt among others.

It may be recalled that the reform was in the order following directions of the Supreme Court in 2002.
