Modi cancels women's sammelan at Junagadh tomm

Junagadh, Aug 4 (UNI) Chief Minister Narendra Modi's mahila sammelan at Chiroda village in Mendrada taluka of the district has been cancelled with Junagadh today receiving a whopping 129 mm rain in just over two hours between 1600 hrs and 1830 hrs accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Deputy Director of Information K B Bhagora made the announcement here.

Earlier, officers of district collector were overseeing the arrangements at Chiroda village for Mr Modi's mahila sammelan which was supposed to commence tomorrow morning.

Officials were doubtful if the programme would be held considering the heavy downpour. They also feared if Modi's copter could fly to Chiroda in the cloudy weather and land safely at the venue.
