Incessant rains continue in this district

Kolhapur, Aug 4 (UNI) Incessant rains continued to lash the district on the second consecutive day today.

Water level of all the rivers, including Panchaganga continued to rise due to pouring rains, district collector office sources said.

The district recorded total rainfall of 593.2 mm in the last 24 hours ending 0800 hrs this morning.

Gaganbavada tehsil recorded the highest rainfall of 129 mm. In other places in the district Radhanagri tehsil received a rainfall of 97 mm, Ajra 81 mm, Chandgad 66 mm, Panhala 60 mm, Bhudargad 43 mm, Shahuwadi 42 mm, Gadinglaj 30 mm, Kagal 22 mm, Karvir 20 mm, Hatkanangale 9 mm and Shiroli 4 mm, the sources said. No major incident of loss of life or property was reported from any part of the district as of now.

Five automatic gates of Radhanagari irrigation Dam have been opened due to heavy rainfall at the catchment areas of the dam and discharged 5400 cusecs water from the dam into Bhogawati river bed, Radhanagari dam has been filled to its total water storage capacity on July 14 irrigation department sources said and added warna irrigation dam was also close to fill-upn to it's capacity.
