Housing project launched

Bhubaeswar, Aug 4 (UNI) The state-owned Orissa Housing Board today decided to launch a mega housing project in the state to provide qualitative and affordable dwelling units to the common people.

OHB Chairman Sanjay Dasburma told newsmen here today that the project '' Biju Basati Project'' named after former Orissa Chief Minister would come up in upcoming industrial townships, places with tourism potenial and other developing urban centres of the state.

The project would be taken up in 27 urban areas, including Paradip, Jharsuguda, Anugul, Badbil, Jajpurroad, Chowdwar, Rourkela, Dhenkanal, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Puri Khurda Balasore, Baripada, Keonjhar Sambalpur, Sundergarha, Jagatsinghpur, Rayagada, Nayagarha, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Bolangir, Bhawanipatna, Jeypore and Sunabeda.

Mr Dasburma said under the project 30,000 dwelling units would be provided in 60 months to Economially Weaker sections(EWS), Lower Income group(LIG) and Middle Income Group people.

In the first phase the project would be taken up in 19 districts and would be extended to other district later.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched three multi-storied social housing schemes .

The housing projects - Ambedkar projects, Radhakrishna Project and Park projects - to be built by the OSHB to meet the housing needs of Lower and middle income groups would come up at Bhubaneswar.

While the project cost of the Ambdekar project was Rs 878.29 lakh, the Radhakrishna enclave project will cost 599.15 lakh and the Park Enclave Rs 920.59 lakh.
