Five held for producing fake degrees, mark sheets

Chennai, Aug 4 (UNI) The city police have arrested five persons for allegedly producing fake degrees, mark sheets awarded by well known colleges, voter identity and ration cards, and some other certificates in the city.

Police said the arrested were identified as Ramu, Palani, Dhanasekaran, Sundarapandiyan and Perumal.

On a tip off, police arrested Ramu, who was loitering around the Collector's office and made the seizures. Based on the information provided by him, they also held the others.

Police seized nearly 6,000 fake mark sheets, fake seals, computers, typewriters and other incriminating documents from them.

Preliminary inquiries revealed that the arrested gang had a link with similar gangs all over Tamil Nadu. Efforts were on to nab the other criminals also, police added.
