Disinfectants sprayed at vehicles on Tripura-Bangladesh border

Agartala, Aug 4 (UNI) With the report of prevalence of Avian Influenza in Bangladesh, Animal Resource Development (ARD) officials here today launched massive disinfection drive in the vehicles coming from across the border.

ARD Director Dr Narayan Das told UNI that as part of the precautionary measures, they were spraying disinfectants in the vehicles entering the State from Bangladesh at Akhaura Check Post in Agartala.

The vehicles were disinfected with Sodium Hypo-Chloride, Dr Das said adding that Bangladesh was still under the threat of HSN1 virus.

The state administration asked Border Security Force (BSF) to be vigilant on the cross border poultry movement, while issuing general alert in the State.

Meanwhile, about 500 chicken died in Khowai Divodaya Krishi Vignan Kendra (KDKVK) during the past three days due to Infectious Bursal Disease (IBD), which triggered alarm in the State.

The State bird flu monitoring committee, headed by Chief Secretary Shasiprakash, held an emergency meeting yesterday and imposed fresh ban on the import of poultry items from outside Tripura.
