Desalination plants to be set up in Andamans: Jaipal Reddy

Port Blair, Aug 4 (UNI) Union Minister of Urban Development Jaipal Reddy has decided to set up desalination plant here, to combat the water crisis in Andmans.

Manoranjan Bhakta, MP, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, told UNI today that the Minister had also agreed for a grant of subsidy of 80 per cent on the water charges of the said desalination plant.

Mr Bhakta also met the Union Minister in New Delhi yesterday, urging the Minister to expedite the approval of the proposal for setting up the desalination plant.
