Bharat Bhavan Trustee Secretary resigns

Bhopal, Aug 4 (UNI) Reputed multi-art centre Bharat Bhavan's Trustee- Secretary Rameshwar Mishra 'Pankaj' has tendered his resignation following the controversy over his ''differences'' with its Chairman Daya Prakash Sinha, official sources said today.

Confirming receipt of the resignation letter, Madhya Pradesh Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma told UNI that he was yet to decide on it.

''Egoistic differences'' between Mr Sinha and Mr Mishra, both appointed by the BJP government, came to the fore after recent appointment of Directors of three of the four wings of the art centre, which was inaugurated in 1982.

Later, Mr Sinha cancelled the appointment of directors of Vagarth (literature), Rangmandal (drama) and Roopankar (painting) made by Mr Mishra terming it illegal. Efforts by the BJP functionaries for rapproachement among them did not succeed.

Mr Mishra was the first non-IAS Secretary of the institution as all his predecessors were bureaucrats.

Incidently, he had released the institution's programme calender for next six months on Friday last.
