Bhajan smells 'conspiracy' against his son

Chandigarh, Aug 4: Former Haryana Chief Minister and disgruntled Congress leader Bhajan Lal today saw a political conspiracy behind the allegations against his son and Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan that he barged into a house at Panchkula recently under the influence of liquor.

''It's a conspiracy against him,'' Mr Bhajan Lal said at a press conference here in which he announced that a massive rally would be held at Rohtak on December 2 to announce his future course of action.

Without naming anyone, he accused his political rivals of hatching the conspiracy behind his son as they were ''scared of our activities.'' Mr Chander Mohan had already denied the allegations that he barged into the Mansa Devi complex on August 1 and had a spat with the residents there. ''I have come to know that a section of media is carrying a false, baseless and malicious campaign by airing false stories about me to tarnish my image,'' he said in a statement.

The Panchkula Police had yesterday registered an FIR against one Atul Kumar, reportedly a friend of Mr Chander Mohan, in connection with the incident but denied the involvement of the Deputy Chief Minister in it.

Meanwhile, the BJP activists held a demonstration against Mr Chander Mohan in Panchkula today and demanded his resignation from the state cabinet.
