19 killed in militants' raid and suicide attack in Pakistan
Islamabad, Aug 4 (UNI) At least 19 people, including 10 pro-Taliban militants and four security officials, were killed in spiralling violence in Northern Pakistan today, officials and reports said.
Four paramilitary officials were killed while defending their checkpoints in an attack by pro-Taliban militants in Dosali area of the restive North Waziristan region, bordering Afghanistan.
Chief Military Spokesman Major General Waheed Arshad told media in Islamabad that the attack was, however, effectively repulsed and 10 militants were killed as security officials opened fire on them.
In Parachinar town, a suicide car bomber rammed into another car in a busy market area, killing five people and injuring 37 others.
Local officials said the condition of at least six people injured in the attack was critical.
More than 200 people have been killed in a series of bomb explosions and suicide attacks all over Pakistan, including Northwestern Frontier Province, since a military raid on the pro-Taliban Red Mosque in Islamabad early last month.
