Monsoon active in Kolhapur

Kolhapur, Aug 3 (UNI) Normal life was disrupted in the district with incessant rains lashing the district since last evening after a brief lull.

Standing crops like paddy, groundnut, sugarcane, soya, jawar among others will benefit from the rains, district collectorate sources said.

Six automatic gates of Radhanagari irrigation dam have been opened and water is being discharged into the Bhogavati river bed due to heavy rainfall in the catchment area. It has resulted in increase in water level of Panchaganga river, said sources in the irrigation department.

Gaganbavada tehsil of the district recorded a highest rainfall of 247 mm till 1600 hrs today. It was followed by Radhanagari tehsil with 90 mm.

However, no rain-related incidents have been reported from the district, sources added.
