Memorial at Kishore Kumar's college

Indore, Aug 3 (UNI) 'Pal pal dil ke pas, tum rehti ho...' Immortal playback singer Kishore Kumar's song seems to aptly convey the sentiment at his alma mater -- the city-based Christian College -- on the eve of his birth anniversary. A memorial is being built there for Kishoreda, who moved out of the college more than five decades back, and his memories will be preserved at the hostel room where he lived.

Kishoreda was born Abhas Kumar Ganguly on August 4, 1929 at Khandwa district headquarters. In the forties, his advocate father Kunjilal sent him to college where he studied only for a year before moving to Mumbai to join his elder brother Ashok Kumar.

''He was dear to all and habituated to drumming on the table and humming,'' recalls former principal C W David.
