Couple burnt to death

Kancheepuram, Aug 3 (UNI) A couple was burnt to death in a stove burst incident at Thiruvanaikoil village in this district of Tamil Nadu, last night.

Police said the mishap occurred when Chinnaponnu (30) lit the stove for cooking. Hearing the cries of his wife, Shankar (33), a coolie, rushed to her help and in the process he was also injured.

Though the couple was rushed to the Chengalpattu Government Hospital in a critical condition, they succumbed to burns.

The couple is survived by their son Saravanan (8) and daughter Saranya (6).
