Air India flight makes emergency landing
Karipur, Kerala, Aug 3 (UNI) An Air India flight from Damam in Saudi Arabia, with 215 passengers on board, made an emergency landing at the International airport here after one of its engines developed a technical snag mid-air.
Air Traffic Control (ATC) Joint General Manager and officiating Air Port Director V S P Chinson said the flight AI 918, which developed pressurising problems, however, landed safely at 1352 hrs.
He said the pilot first alerted the Mangalore ATC about the snag in the aircraft, which was scheduled to land here at 0705 hrs.
Subsequently, a red alert was sounded and all arrangements were made, enabling the flight to land safely, Mr Chinson said.
