Tsunami warning issued for Japan's Hokkaido

Tokyo, Aug 2: A tsunami warning was issued for the western coast of Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido after a 6.4 magnitude earthquake off Russia's Sakhalin island, NHK public television said today.

A 20 cm tsunami had been recorded in one area, NHK said, but it warned that further tsunami could be higher, perhaps up to around 50 cm.
