Th Shyamkumar elected Dy Speaker

Imphal, Aug 2 (UNI) Th Shyamkumar of Manipur People's Party's legislator was today unanimously elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

Th Shyamkumar has been elected to the Assembly for the first time from Andro constituency.

The MPP which has five MLAs is the single largest Opposition party and as a tradition the seat of the Deputy Speaker has been given to the Opposition.

The house also refered the case of detention of Ph Parijat, the state health minister by an Army officer earlier to the privilege committee.

Later Speaker Dr S Buddhichandra announced the three-day assembly session sine die.
