Bhopal, Aug 2 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh Government today endorsed a Rs 61.18 crore package for rehabilitation of people displaced due to setting up of an auto-testing track at Pithampur industrial area near Indore.

The decision was taken at cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan here today.

Briefing reporters about the cabinet decisions, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Narottam Mishra said the government intended that citizens do not face difficulties like farmers faced during land acquisition in Nandigram.

He said land has been acquired at seven villages for the auto-testing track.

The meeting endorsed the decision of a cabinet sub-committee for providing awards to these seven villages and a special package for Khandwa village.

As per the sub-committee's assessment, the government would have to provide Rs 45.84 crore under this head.

Besides, the sub-committee decided to provide exemption on stamp and registration duty for purchasing land of the value of compensation provided.

The exemption amount would come around Rs 14.60 crore.

Under the rehabilitation policy, poor families would be provided Rs 75,000 per family for constructing house. This would entail an expenditure of Rs 42 lakh.

Affected families would receive Rs 19.92 lakh as transport allowance, while agricultural labourers would receive Rs 11.74 lakh as financial and other assistance.

He said compensation would be provided to only those who would not go to the court under the Land Acquisition Act.

Mr Mishra added that a diamond park would be established at Rangwasa village in Indore district.
