Nikkei rises 0.5 per cent after Wall St. rebound
Tokyo, Aug 2: Japan's Nikkei average rose 0.51 percent on Thursday with high-tech exporters such as Canon Inc and other shares regaining ground after a rebound in US stocks.
The Nikkei added 85.35 points to 16,956.33 as of 0001 GMT. It finished the previous session down 2.19 percent at 16,870.98, the lowest close since March 16.
The broader TOPIX index rose 0.33 percent to 1,674.43.
