Monsoon weak in south interior Karnataka

Bangalore, Aug 2 (UNI) Following is a summary of observations recorded by the weather office here at 0830 hours today.

Monsoon was weak over South Interior Karnataka. Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall amounts (cm): Karwar 10; Ankola 7.

Other chief rainfall amounts (cm): Shirali 6; Kollur, Kundapur, Honavar, Kumta, Nargund, Basaralu 5 each; Kota, Siddapura, Udupi, Bhatkal, Alland, Agumbe 4 each; Mulki, Puttur, Karkala, Bijapur, Aurad 3 each; Mangalore AP, Panambur, Mangalore, Bantwal, Mani, Yellapura, Khanapur, Soundatti, Muddebihal, Humnabad, Chincholi, Bhagamandala, Linganamakki, Hosanagar, Mulbagal, Srinivasapura, Srirampura 2 each; Belthangadi, Joida, Dharwad, Bevoor, Kaladgi, Bidar, Basavakalyan, Kamalapur, Kalgi, Madikeri, Sagar, Kottigehara, Kammardi, Chikballapur 1 each.

Forecast valid until Saturday morning: Rain/thundershowers likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at a few places over Interior Karnataka.

Farmers Weather Bulletin: Moderate to rather heavy rain likely to occur at most places over Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada districts. Light to moderate rain likely to occur at a few places over all the districts of the Interior Karnataka.

Heavy rainfall Warning: Heavy to very heavy rain may occur at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka during next 48 hours.

Outlook for subsequent two days: Increase in rainfall over Coastal Karnataka and no significant change is expected over Interior Karnataka.

Local forecast: Generally cloudy with one or two spells of rain/thundershowers.
