Manipur media stir continues for second day

Imphal, Aug 2: Entire Manipur media continued their sit-in-protest today at Keishampat here demanding non-interference from any quarters.

On July 31 a bomb was placed at a local newspaper office by suspected militants.

The scribes under the aegis of All Manipur Working Journalists Union were protesting this incident and no daily hit the stands for the second consecutive day today.

Several organisations have joined forces with the media and demanded protection of freedom of the press.

The journalists were not able to work properly after a militant group threatened them of dire consequences if their press handouts were not published. Yet another group had threatened to attack journalists if the same press releases were published.
