Haryana forms Energy Conservation Action Plan

Chandigarh, Aug 2 (UNI) The Haryana government has embarked upon an ambitious programme of Energy Conservation in the state and formulated an Energy Conservation Action Plan.

The Department of Renewable Energy has been designated as the State Nodal Agency in this context, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here today.

He said by adopting solar energy system, maximum energy could be saved.

The Deputy Chief Minister said the Union government had enacted an Energy conservation Act with a view to conserving energy in various sectors included industrial, commercial, domestic agriculture and building sectors.

He said that by adopting these measures consumption of energy could be reduced substantially.

He said that Haryana was the first state in the country to issue comprehensive directions for efficient use of energy and its conservation measures to conserve electricity in domestic, commercial, industrial and agriculture sectors.

The use of solar water heating systems, compact fluorescent lamps, use of T-5 watt 28 watt energy efficient tube light system/retrofit assembly, ISI marked pump sets and accessories and promotion of energy efficient building design had been made mandatory in government buildings or government aided institutions or Boards or Corporations, he added.
