Govt approves changes to Aircraft Act 1934
New Delhi, Aug 2 (UNI) The government today approved several amendments to the Aircraft Act 1934 to ensure that safety oversight functions are performed effectively by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The move is aimed at acquiring powers to exercise supervisory control on standards of airports, communication, navigation and surveillance (CNS) and air traffic management (ATM) facilities.
The new amendments were recommended by a parliamentary committee.
They will make provisions of the Aircraft Act 1934 more effective and consistent with present requirement and circumstances, according to an official statement issued here today.
