Arunachal: GHRO for Comm to solve border issue

Itanagar, Aug 2: Global Human Rights Organization (GHRO), an NGO, has urged the state government to constitute an independent commission on border issue and construct permanent wall to demarcate the boundary bewteen Assam and Arunachal Pradesh.

The NGO further requested the government to start immediate dialogue with its Assam counterpart and the Centre on inter-state boundary issue for amicable and permanent solution to the issue and maintaining peaceful co-existence, GHRO chairman Goken Bam said here today.

Reacting to the recent firing at Dollungmukh in Lower Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr Bam said the unprovoked firing by the Assam Forest Police on innocent villagers resulted in injuries to three Arunachalees.

Terming the incident as 'barbaric', GHRO condemned the incident and said it was the violation of Supreme Court order to maintain the status-quo on inter-state boundary issue.

Condemning the recent incidents of unprovoked attack near the Arunachal border by Assam police, the organisation urged the both the governments to immediately arrest and punish the erring police personnel and officers.

They also criticising the Arunachal government for its inactiveness.
