Four held for threatening industrialist

Chennai, Aug 2 (UNI) Police arrested four persons, including a film actress, for allegedly threatening an industrialist demanding Rs 10 crore as ransom, at a hotel near the airport here today.

Police said the actress Padmavati (29), who had acted in a recent movie 'Veerasamy' and in a number of TV serials, was having an affair with the industrialist Pradeep (29) and both were staying in a hotel. Three persons Sanjay, Ameerjan and Chandran, at her behest managed to take some photographs of the actress and the industrialist, when they were together.

Since yesterday all the four were demanding a ransom from the industrialist at gunpoint, threatening him that the photos would be publicised, police said.

However, the industrialist managed to escape from their custody and informed the police.

Police rushed to the hotel and arrested all the four and remanded them to judicial custody and seized the gun from them.
