Four held for threatening industrialist in TN

Chennai, Aug 2: Police arrested four people, including a film actress, for allegedly threatening an industrialist at gunpoint demanding Rs ten crore as ransom, at a star hotel near the airport here today.

Police said the actress Padmavati (29), starring in a latest movie 'Veerasamy' and in a number of TV serials, who was having an affair with the industrialist Pradeep (29) stayed in the hotel. With the help of three others Sanjay, Ameerjan and Chandran, she managed to take some photographs of the actress and the industrialist, when together.

Since yesterday all the four were demanding ransom from the industrialist at gunpoint, threatening if their demand was not met the photos would be publicised.

However, the industrialist managed to escape and informed the police.

Police rushed to the hotel and arrested all the four. They were remanded in judicial custody and the gun was seized.
