Chouhan meets Governor

Bhopal, Aug 2 (UNI) Amid talks about cabinet expansion in Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan met Governor Balram Jakhar at the Raj Bhawan here today.

Official sources said Mr Chouhan paid a courtesy visit.

However, the meeting was being considered significant in view of chances of cabinet expansion in August.

The Chief Minister spent about half an hour with the Governor.

Recently, Mr Chouhan had indicated that cabinet expansion would be carried out during the first week of August.

Speculation is rife that Vidhan Sabha Speaker Ishwardas Rohani would find a place in the cabinet, while his place would be taken up by either senior legislator Kailash Chawla or Woman and Child Development Minister Kusum Mehdele.

At present, there 26 members in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan's ministry, including the chief minister.

Mr Chouhan could accommodate nine more members in the cabinet as per calculations in view of number of members in the Vidhan Sabha.
