Chennai Corporation simplifies licence process

Chennai, Aug 2 (UNI) Availing licence for running small establishments in the city has become a lot more easier, with the Chennai Corporation Council passing a resolution for grant of approval document at the zonal office level.

Corporation officials here today informed that according to the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority norms, small establishments using motors of up to five hp were permitted in all zones - residential, commercial and industrial.

For establishments using higher horse power equipment and restricted to certain zones, the existing regulations would be continued, they said.

According to the norms, owners of small establishments have to give an application for a licence along with two photographs, licence and sanitation fees, property tax receipt with Rs 20 stamp paper and consent to have the establishment demolished in the event of it proving to be a danger to public health or posing public nuisance. The zonal offices would process it and with the recommendation of the officials concerned, licences could even be issued directly.
