BMC assembly hall to be shifted

Mumbai, Aug 2 (UNI) The Assembly Hall of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation will soon be shifted to the second floor, from its present position due to space crunch.

The deputy leaders across parties today cleared the proposal regarding the changes to be done in the BMC head-quarters.

The proposal includes a gymnasium for the corporators in the premises and a parking space for vehicles and other structural changes that will utilize the unused space in the building.

Deputy leader of the NCP Niyaz Vanu said, ''The heritage structure will be untouched and the idea is to give a new look to the old building and keep the Gothic structure intact.'' The proposal also includes a Rs 5 crore renovation plan for Bhagwati hospital that includes a helipad among other things.
