Adequate security arrangements for Kanwariya procession

Meerut, Aug 2 (UNI) High-level security arrangements have been made on the Delhi-Hardwar National highway following terror threats on the fesival of Kanwariya procession at Shivsetu, which is to be held on Saturday.

Security equipment like CCTV and TV are being used to monitor the situation. Instructions have been given that there will be no power cuts in the nearby villages and cities which are near the national highway.

Police are also using bomb disposal squads to monitor the Kanwariya procession at many places. From Saturday, traffic would be closed in between Shivsetu and the national highway.

Meerut Zone Superintendent of Police V K Gupta today told UNI that railway stations, bus terminals and hotels were being checked for any breach of security. Kanwarias are warned through loud speakers of not touching any suspicious-looking item and they should inform police if they find any such item lying anywhere.
