Egypt says Libyans shot sailor dead in Libyan waters
CAIRO, July 30 (Reuters) A Libyan security vessel opened fire on an Egyptian fishing boat in Libyan waters, killing an Egyptian sailor, the Egyptian state news agency MENA said today.
The fishing boat returned to Alexandria port today with a crew of 13 and the body of the sailor, identified as 28-year-old Abdu Ahmed Mohamed, it said.
The Libyan vessel, described as a launch, opened fire on the Egyptian boat on Saturday, it said. ''Bullet holes were found in the boat and inside it projectiles from firearms were discovered,'' it added.
The report did not say if the Egyptian boat had permission to fish in Libyan waters.
