'Separate Andhra only solution to develop region'

Vijayawada, July 29 (UNI) Separate Andhra state is the only solution to develop the Andhra region, according to Jai Andhra Udyama Samithi, an organisation floated by the Bharatiya Janata Party last month.

Addressing a press conference here today, Samithi State Committee members L R K Prasad and U Srinivasa Raju alleged that though 80 per cent of the revenue in the state was contributed by the Coastal Andhra districts, the ruling Congress was neglecting the Andhra region and developing the Telangana region.

They claimed that the government had spent nearly Rs 1,20,000 crore in the irrigation sector in the Telangana region, while a meagre Rs 20,000 crore was spent for the Andhra region. They demanded that the Government spend Rs 1,00,000 crore in the Andhra region for irrigation.

They disputed Telangana Rashtra Samithi chief K Chandrasekhara Rao's statements that every government in the state were overlooking the Telangana region.

They appealed to entrepreneurs hailing from the Andhra region to stop investing in setting up industries in the Telangana region and urged them to invest in the development of the Andhra region.
