Security tightened in Baidyanath dham for 'Shrawni mela'

Ranchi, Jul 29 (UNI) The Jharkhand government has made elaborate security arrangements to avert any untoward incident during the 'Shrawni mela' beginning from July 31 at 'Dwadash Jyotirlingam' in Deoghar district.

District Suprintendent of Police Manoj Kaushik told UNI today that bomb disposal squad and a Quick Reaction Team (QRT), comprising commandoes had been deployed at the Baidyananth Dham temple for the protection of temple and visitors as well.

Mr Kaushik said CCTVs had been installed at various locations to keep tabs on activities, adding this time Kanwarias would have to pass through two-layer security system-- first about 100 metres before the temple and second at the entrance-- where metal detectors had been installed.

He said armed forces and volunteers had been deployed at the administrative camps, established on the Kanwaria path.

Besides, police patrolling would continue round-the-clock at kanwaria path, he added.

Meanwhile, report from Dumka, where lakhs of devotees offer prayer to Lord Shiva at Basukinath temple, said health camps and proper light arrangements had been made at the Hansdiha-Nonihat-Basukinath dham road for the convinence of devotees.

According to official sources, more than 40 lakhs of devotees paid their obeisance to their deity at Deoghar and Dumka in last Shrawani mela.

Chief Minister Madhu Koda was likely to inaugurate the mela tomorrow, which would continue till August 28, official sources said.
