Power transfer in K'taka will be smooth: Yediyurappa

Mysore, July 29: Playing down the uncertainties over the power sharing between coalition partners JD(S) and BJP, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa today expressed confidence that the process will be smooth on Octoaber 3.

Speaking to newsmen here he said "One must believe in the confidence and also faith in the understanding which taken place between the Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and I when the coalition government was formed 16 months back. There might be different views among the ministers and leaders of 'partner party' JD(S). But I have 100 per cent on the Chief Minister." Mr Yediyurappa, who would be the next Chief Minister as announced by Party National President Rajnath Singh, said that he would be able to perform even more effectively after power transfer. "i want to make Karnataka a 'Modern' state in the country in terms of development during next 20 months of time," he said.

He denied the allegations that there was difference among the BJP party legislators on his leadership and it was 'created' by someone and the party was united.

Mr Yediyurappa brushing aside allegations that he was not 'experienced' enough to become the next Chief Minister, said that he was not a note economist but had a vast experience of 40 years in active political life and that was enough to take the reigns. Underlining the achievements of his budget, Mr Yediyurappa who also holds the finance portfolio, said that he had succeeded in achieving high rate of revenue collections. "The revenue collections has increased to Rs 4400 crore in year ending 2006-07 from Rs 2800 crore during the previous year. Is this not a good achievement," he asked.

The DCM also announced that the balance amount to the cooperative banks towards the loan waivers for the farmers would be released in another three to four days.

He said that the government provided loans to the farmers to the tune of Rs 1399 crore through cooperative banks till July 20 and it was Rs 128 crore more then last year same period.
