Nagarahole tribals protest against harassment

Madikeri, Karnataka, July 29 (UNI) The tribals living on the fringes and inside the Nagarahole National Park today staged dharna in front of Taluk Thahsidar's office at Virajpet in Kodagu district protesting against the harassment by the forest department officials.

They alleged that the false cases was being booked with the police against the innocent tribes in Nagarahole by the Forest Department. They warned of serious consequences if such harassment continued any further.

The agitation was led by the tribal agitation committee president Bhojamma, the former minister Suma Vasanth was present.

The harassment issue was also discussed in the Z.P.meeting held at Madikeri yesterday. Members also complained against the supply sub standard goods to tribals in the area under tribal development scheme sponsored by the government.
