MP town municipality has Computerised Information System
Jabalpur, July 29 (UNI) The local municipal corporation claims to be Madhya Pradesh's first to have put in place a Computerised Information Management System and drafted a transparent, policy-oriented outcome budget based on people's participation.
''The town's principal problem is traffic management. Four-laning of the Shastri overbridge-Medical College and Ranital crossing-Adhartal crossing arterial roads is underway,'' Municipal Commissioner Omprakash Shrivastav told UNI today.
The Allahabad Bank crossing, Godown, Civil Lines Sai crossing, Kanchghar crossing, Rampur crossing, Raddi Chowki crossing and Madan Mahal crossing were being beautified at a cost of about Rs 5 crore.
''My chief objective is to make the taxation system smooth and worth emulating and enhance revenue collection to Rs 90 crore by 2009-10. The figure was Rs 43.68 crore in 2006-07 and was merely Rs 22.86 crore in 2003-04,'' the Commissioner claimed.
The Computerised System makes available, on the Internet, details of income and expenditure. The Corporation has made special arrangements for denizens to access tax details free of cost at cybercafes.
