Demand for increasing stipend for blind students
Chennai, July 29 (UNI) College students and the Graduates Association of Blind appealed to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to enhance the stipend for undergraduate students from Rs 1,500 to 3,000 and for the post-graduate students from Rs 1,950 to Rs 3,900.
Addressing a press conference here yesterday, Association President R Muniappan and General Secretary K Ramaswamy said the blind students should be granted additional time for writing examinations.
They also demanded exemption from titution and examination fees in all the universities in the state, appointment of eligible blind candidates as lecturers in government colleges and promotion for employees in government schools.
