7 militants nabbed, Operations intensify for Independence day

Imphal, July 29 (UNI) Following the arrest of seven militants in four separate incidents by the troops and police, the security personnel in Manipur have launched operations to avert any disruptive activities during this Independence day.

The PRO of Assam rifles said during the operations, which began on Friday the 44 AR managed to find two Lathode Grenade, and one magazine of M-20 Pistol with 20 live rounds, some Combat Uniforms, rice and cooking Utensils.

The troops of 19 Assam Rifles nabbed two suspected militants at Imphal East and recovered war-like stores. One AK-56 along with one magazine had been recovered from the suspected persons.

The apprehended persons along with the recovered arms had been handed over to Lamlai Police Station yesterday.

In another incident, troops of 10 Assam Rifles apprehended a cadre of People's Liberation Army (PLA). The Sekmai police also nabbed two cadres of Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA)yesterday, the Superintendent of Police(SP), Imphal West, Clay Khongsai said.

The SP, Imphal East today said three KRA cadres were nabbed and during interrogation it was found that the three were involved in collection of fund and burning of a vehicle on July 8 at Narankonjil and killing of a security guard of Manipur Diesel on July 14 at Mantripukhri.
