623 detonators seized in Chandauli, one arrested
Varanasi, July 29 (UNI) A man was today arrested with 623 detonators from the Saiyadraja area of naxal hit neighbouring Chandauli district.
Mrityunjay Upadhayay, a resident of Majhwar (Chandauli), was arrested with 623 detonators at the Naubatpur checkpost near the UP-Bihar border, police sources told UNI today.
Early interrogation suggested that Mrityunjay was carting the detonators from Sasaram (Bihar) to Sukrut in neighbouring Mirzapur district to be used to trigger blasts in the stone quarrying industry.
He had switched to such a work after suffering huge loss in rice mill business, sources added.
Further investigations were on.
