UP: News channel expose; Rape accused,

Lucknow, July 28: Police has arrested three people, including a rape accused, from Sipri area in Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh.

A private news channel had exposed the crime, that took place during the state local bodies poll last year.

On October 7, 2006, three people Mahendra Prajapati, Kapil Raj and Shani Sahu had allegedly raped a girl in a moving car and captured the crime on their mobile phone camera.

Later, the accused had engaged two others Shahid and his aide to prepare a CD of the sexual assault, police said here today.

Last night, a TV news channel had run a story on the crime, following which the UP Police swung into action and a case was registered in this regard.

In subsequent raids, Prajapati, Shahid and his aide were arrested and a computer seized from their possession.

The car used in the crime was confiscated. A large quantity of CDs were also seized from the house of Prajapati.

Meanwhile, a hunt was on to nab the absconding accused.
