Mukherjee happy at Haneef's release from custody
Bhutan, July 28: External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has expressed satisfaction with the Australian government's decision to release Indian doctor Haneef held on suspicion of being connected with a failed bomb plot in Britain.
Talking to newspersons who were accompanying him during his tour of Bhutan Mr Mukherjee said "I am very happy with the development. With the Australian government's move it is clear that Haneef was not involved in any of the terrorist activities." "I hope he will be granted a visa to return to India and will be given permission to resume work in a hospital in Australia," he said.
He said that it was diffucult to prevent recurrence of such incidents in the future. "Terrorism is growing throughout the world and is not limited to any one country or group," he said.
