Voting and counting for VP election on Aug 10

New Delhi, July 27: Polling for the 13th Vice Presidential election will be held on August 10 with three main contestants remaining in the fray after the last date of withdrawal of nominations was over today.

According to an Election Commission release, polling will take place in the Parliament House. The members of both the Houses, including the nominated ones form the Electoral College for the Vice-Presidential elections.

The three contestants are UPA-Left candidate Hamid Ansari, NDA nominee Najma A Heptulla and UNPA's Rasheed Masood.

Polling will commence at 1000 hrs and close at 1700 hrs.

Counting of votes will commence at 1800 hrs the same day and the results will be declared immediately thereafter.

Polling arrangements in the Parliament House are being made by Rajya Sabha Secretary General Yogendra Narain, who is also the Returning Officer (RO) for the election.
