United spirits posts net profit of Rs 42 crore
Mumbai July 27 (UNI) Vijay Mallya-promoted spirit company, United Spirits Limited, posted a net profit for the first quarter, which is up by 94 per cent at Rs 42 crore compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.
Sales of key premium brands at 16.8 million cases registered a growth of 16 per cent compared to 14.5 million cases last year.
Mcdowell's No 1, the spirit major's umbrella brand, which has a leading presence across whisky, brandy and rum, registered a sale of 6.2 million cases this quarter which is up by 35 per cent.
During the quarter, company also acquired the scottish spirit major Whyte and Mackay.
