UHBVN to make one village CFL-lit in each sub-division
Chandigarh, July 27 (UNI) The Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) has decided to select one village each in 114 sub-divisions in its operation circle to make them 100 per cent Compact Flourescent Lamp (CFL) illuminated.
A Nigam spokesman said here today that in order to ensure conservation of electricity, instructions had been given to Superintending Engineers to select villages in their respective areas and persuade the residents to replace incandescent lamps with CFLs.
He said the Indo Asian Switchgear had been authorised to sell the CFLs on subsidised rates. The Nigam would provide help to the firm in selling the CFLs.
The CFLs of 11 Watt, 15 Watt, 20 Watt would be available at the rate of Rs 67.50, Rs 75.00 and Rs 100 respectively where as the T-8 36 Watt Tube would be available at the rate of Rs 32 only.
The Nigam had also decided to provide a 15 Watt CFL free of cost to the Below Poverty Line (BPL) consumers at the time of release of connections.
The Haryana government has already declared the Year 2007-08 as ''Save Electricity Year''.
Meanwhile, the Nigam has also instructed all the offices to immediately replace conventional bulbs with energy savers.
He said the electrical gadgets duly approved by the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) could go a long way to bridge the gap of demand and supply of power.
